Professional Floor Installation Services

We Install Various Types Of Flooring | The Greater Milwaukee Area

At Lion's Pride Flooring, we specialize in an array of flooring options, ranging from hardwood to LVP, grouted LVT, and carpet tile. With over 10 years of experience, we’ve installed countless brands on the market. Each manufacturer and series has its own unique installation procedure, and therefore, it's essential to have an adept and knowledgeable flooring installer who can handle different types of flooring.

Based on the flooring selected, we, as installers, will determine the best installation method, considering the manufacturer's recommendations. The first row of flooring is crucial as it acts as the foundation for the entire project. We use a chalk line to get a starting line parallel to an outside wall, ensuring that everything is perfect. With an assortment of professional flooring tools at our disposal, we can efficiently cover vast areas in a short amount of time, focusing solely on laying boards . Regardless of the flooring brand or material, the process will always involve taking one step at a time and being thorough with everything we do. This is how we achieve perfect results every time.

SubFloor Installation Services Milwaukee, WI

LVP Installation (Floating)

When it comes to flooring options, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is bar none the most popular choice among homeowners. LVP is highly preferred due to its durability, affordability, and suitability for families with pets. Compared to Hardwood, LVP can withstand hard use and doesn't break the bank. Most of the popular LVPs available on the market are considered "floating floors," which means that the boards are not fastened to the subfloor but are instead locked with a "tongue-and-groove" mechanism. During installation, it is essential to maintain a ⅛” gap around the perimeter to allow healthy movement of the floating floor. This helps prevent issues down the road and ensures that the floor remains in working condition for a long time to come.

Although you can spend a lot on LVP, we recommend a budget of around $3.00 per sqft. Going for cheaper options may compromise the quality and durability of the flooring, and we want to make sure that you love your new floors. Sticking to this price range ensures that you get the best value for your money with a long-lasting, durable product. LVP comes in various colors and styles, and we’re extremely confident that you can find one that suits your vision. Most LVPs are advertised as waterproof, so you don't have to worry about spills and moisture. Unlike laminate, LVP is engineered with padding, eliminating the need for an underlayment. This is one of the main differences between laminate and LVP. It's like comparing a flip phone to a smartphone; technology advances, and obsolete options get replaced.

LVP & Laminate Flooring Installation Services Milwaukee, WI

Laminate Flooring Installation

When it comes to comparing LVP and Laminate, the biggest difference lies in their material makeup. LVP, being flexible and waterproof, doesn't scratch easily, whereas laminate is susceptible to water damage, and is also prone to chipping since it is more rigid and less forgiving. Although we are experienced in both Laminate and LVP installation, we usually recommend LVP over Laminate since we see it is a better product overall, and the one that you will be happy with for years to come.

However, we understand that everyone has different needs and wants, so we encourage you to do your own research before making a purchase. Some people have had a great experience with Laminate, and don’t want to fix what’s not broken, so to speak, and opt for Laminate again. Whatever your reason, and whatever product you so decide, we’re proud to say that we’re the best installers for the job.

Floor Leveling & Installation Services Milwaukee, WI

LVT With Grout Installation

LVT with grout gives a ceramic tile-like appearance, and is often preferred over traditional tiles due to its cost-effectiveness. To create a grouted installation with almost any glue-down LVT, you can use spacers between each tile while installing the floor. There are various patterns such as 50/50 stagger, 1/3rd bricklay, and many more to choose from.

Once the LVT is installed with the desired spacer size, you can fill the empty spaces with grout, creating the grout lines. This gives the whole project a polished look, making it a successful update for any space, and ultimately, a happy customer. This flooring option is rapidly gaining popularity, and it is not hard to see why.

Hardwood Flooring Installation Services Milwaukee, WI

Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is a timeless and elegant choice of flooring. However, many customers are deterred by the high cost compared to other options like LVP. Some people still prefer hardwood flooring despite the price difference, and for these people, we are here to serve.

There are many types of hardwood flooring, each requiring different installation methods. Manufacturers provide installation instructions that outline the best installation practices and materials needed. The most common installation methods include:

  • Staple down engineered hardwood
  • Staple down with glue assist
  • Staple down with 15.5 gauge flooring staples
  • Floating with glued tongues
  • Glue down.

The price of installation varies based on the installation method and the width of each board. Wider planks require less work and result in less time for the installer, which is reflected in the quote.

With the exception of glue-down, vapor barrier is required for all hardwood installations, and the industry standard is tar paper. It's cost-effective, reduces wood-on-wood noise, and has been used for over a hundred years to shed water. Undertaking a hardwood project requires planning and professional advice, so it's important to speak with someone who has expertise in the field. We look forward to the opportunity to work on your hardwood project and contribute to a masterpiece.

Finish Carpentry Services

Final Touches To All Floor Installation Projects

If you're looking for finish carpentry services, it's important to find a detail-oriented and knowledgeable craftsman who can deliver the results you want. Poor workmanship can compromise the final outcome, so it's crucial to choose someone who can hit your mark perfectly. At our company, we offer a range of finish carpentry services, but only as part of a larger project. These services include shoe installation, baseboard installation, cove base installation, and transition installation.

We take pride in our meticulous approach to finish carpentry work. We use the correct fasteners, ensure that we hit the studs, and make sure that every outside corner is tight. Our goal is to achieve perfect results that meet your expectations. The key to successful finished carpentry is in the corners. We make sure that they are perfectly lined up and that there are no visible gaps.

Shoe Installation

"Base Shoe" or "Quarter-Round" is a trim piece that is located at the bottom of the baseboard. Before installing new flooring, the shoe needs to be removed. Whether to install new shoe or replace the old one is up to the customer, unless the old shoe is in such bad shape that it can't be reused. This decision is based on the condition of the current shoe. Removing the old shoe carefully is usually the first step we take when we arrive at a new job, as it allows us to remove the old floor covering easily.

When carpet is removed, we'll factor in new shoe because there is no existing shoe to pull and reset, since carpet installers don't install any. Some customers prefer to have only baseboards, but we don't recommend it unless the entire floor is level, as there will be gaps and shadow lines under the base that would be covered with shoe. Shoe hides the flooring's expansion gap along the baseboard and provides a clean, elegant finish. The shoe is color-matched to the baseboard and caulked if needed. If the baseboard is white, the shoe will also be white. This is considered finish carpentry, and we take pride in our ability to do it at a very high level, leaving every job looking seamless.

Baseboard Installation

Baseboard refers to the trim piece that is attached to the bottom of the drywall. It acts as the foundation for the rest of the trim in the house and comes in many profiles. A skilled craftsman will install the baseboard correctly and ensure the tightness of the corners. To do this, it is important to hit the wall studs, which can be found every 16 inches. A high-quality baseboard installation makes it easier for the shoe installer to follow suit.

Cove Base Installation

Cove base is an alternative to traditional baseboard that is often used in commercial applications and on walls made of concrete or brick. It is cheaper, requires fewer tools to install, and can be installed much faster. Although baseboard and shoe are generally considered more aesthetically pleasing and are therefore used more often in residential settings, cove base is still a popular choice for commercial properties because it is more economical and serves the purpose of covering up cuts. When installing cove base, it is important to use a dedicated cove base adhesive to reduce the chance of problems like shrinking.

Flooring Transitions

Installing new flooring often requires transitions to be installed where the new flooring meets with the existing flooring in other parts of the house that are not being replaced. Transitions are especially important when installing hard surface flooring like LVP. There are different types of transitions available, such as stairnoses, endcaps, and reducers, and it's important to choose the right one that matches the flooring style, material, and color.

When transitioning from LVP to carpet, an endcap is usually used. It's important to take the time to install the transition piece correctly, as mistakes can be costly due to the limited amount of product available. We usually fasten the transitions to the subfloor using construction adhesive, being careful not to get any on the floor itself.

Flooring transitions are the final touch to a flooring installation project and should be done carefully to ensure a professional finish.
